A therapeutic procedure using a fine filament needle which is advanced into an area of soft tissue restriction such as a “knot” or “trigger point”. The tissue relaxes improving range of motion, decreasing pain, and enhancing overall function. The needle is “dry” which means nothing is injected.
What to Expect:
- Feeling of discomfort which varies.
- Healthy muscle – very little discomfort if at all.
- Dysfunctional, tight, or sensitive muscle – “cramp” or “sore” sensation, and often a quick contraction or “twitch” that quickly dissipates.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?
- Positive results typically apparent after 2-4 sessions
- Varies depending on cause, duration, and severity of symptoms as well as overall health of patient and practitioner experience
Are There Any Side Effects?
- Most common – muscle soreness, light bruising in treatment area after 1st session
- Drinking plenty of water, using moist heat, and light exercise significantly improve side effects

- Must be medically necessary
